Joel Shields
I believe in righting wrongs, standing up for those without a voice, and seeking just results for my clients. This is what I was meant to do.

Joel Shields joined Scanes, Routh & James, LLP as an associate attorney in March 2007. Joel focuses much of his time and energy representing individuals in employment and personal injury matters. He loves a righteous fight, and he fiercely advocates on behalf of his clients who have either been oppressed by their employers or harmed by the careless acts of others.

Joel's employment practice includes representation of employees in almost all areas of employment law, including sexual harassment; discrimination based upon religion, race, sex, age, or disability; Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) claims; wage and hour claims; retaliation claims; workers' compensation retaliation claims; and employment contracts. He focuses his personal injury litigation practice on the representation of individuals who have been seriously injured or killed, whether in auto accidents, eighteen-wheeler/trucking accidents, slip and fall cases, wrongful death cases, or catastrophic injury cases. His business litigation practice includes breach of contract cases, business torts, real estate, and more. Prior to attending law school, Joel worked as a claims adjuster for a major insurance company and understands how insurance companies make decisions on claims and in lawsuits.
